Beyond the introduction

Stage design and artistic partnership

Edward Gordon Craig (1872–1966) was a stage designer, director and author. He was the son of actress Ellen Terry. His romantic and artistic association with Isadora Duncan forms one well-documented branch extending outward from Natalie Barney’s broader milieu.

What the archives preserve

The New York Public Library’s finding aid describes their correspondence, Craig’s notebooks about Duncan and a photograph of their daughter Deirdre. It is not evidence that Craig attended Natalie’s later salon.
